OTP not showing in your temp inbox

An empty inbox usually means one of four things: the address was copied wrong, the tab was closed, the sender is slow, or the site refused the domain. Check them in that order.

Open a free inbox

1. Confirm the address that was submitted

Copy from the WispInbox address button, then paste. Retyping drops a character. If you clicked New address after submitting the form, you are watching a different inbox from the one the site mailed.

2. Keep this tab open

The free mailbox is deleted about 60 minutes after you leave. A code that arrives after that has nowhere to land. Stay on the page until the message is in the list.

3. Wait once, then refresh

New mail normally appears on its own. If a minute has passed, click Refresh. Some senders take longer than the form implies, especially the first email from a new account.

4. Do not resend until you know the first code is lost

A resend often creates a second code and invalidates the first. If both arrive close together, type the newest one. Developers using the OTP API should pass the time they submitted the form as after, so the call returns only mail that arrived after that moment.

5. A domain block looks different

An error on the form, before any mail is sent, is a block. Waiting will not produce a message. A custom name on the same domain will not either. Use a permanent address for that site.

Questions

How long should I wait for an OTP?

Give a normal sender one to two minutes with the tab open. Use Refresh once. If the form already rejected the address, waiting will not help.

I clicked New address. Can I get the old mail back?

No. The previous free inbox is separate, and a free inbox is deleted after you leave it. Submit the form again with the address now on screen.

The code arrived but the site says it is wrong.

You may be typing an older code from a resend. Use the latest message, and check that it was sent to the address you submitted.
